Oak Park AYSO Region 697

FALL 2020 ALTERNATIVE SOCCER PROGRAM

Hello Oak Park AYSO!!!

We are excited to announce our slate of Fall Programming!

As with the original decision to move away from a traditional season, player and community safety was paramount in our decision-making process and the entirety of the Fall Programming is dependent on Oak Park remaining in Phase 4, as well as the adherence of participants to the health and safety protocols required under Phase 4.

FALL PROGRAMMING OVERVIEW

The traditional season has been replaced with a series of trainer-led sessions, both during the week and on Saturday “game days”.

During the 10-week “season”, every player will be able to attend 2 50-minute trainer-led sessions, and, on 8 Saturdays, attend an hour-long clinic during traditional game times.  The Saturday clinics will focus on a rotating series of specific drills, incorporating non-contact, competitive challenges.  Social distancing is enforced throughout the clinics.

Trainers – provided by both Edge and P2 – will run all sessions throughout the season.  Both Edge and P2 have extensive Phase 4 protocols in place including, but not limited to: social distancing at all times; non-contact drills; pre-registration requirement; check-in and temperature checks; face coverings required by trainers at all times; face coverings required for players at arrival, check-in and departure (optional to wear during the clinics); access to hand sanitizer and more.

Information on specific day-of-session procedures will be distributed in the run-up to the season start.

“SEASON” DETAILS

Each player will be entitled to 2x/week after-school sessions for 10 weeks, plus 8 Saturday sessions.  The weekly programming will run 8/24 – 10/30 and the Saturday programming will run 9/12 – 10/31 (weeks 3-10).

Capacity is limited to 600 participants for the “season”.

All sessions will be coed and organized by traditional AYSO age groups (U8, U10, U12, U14, U19).  There may be some minor blending of age groups depending on actual enrollment and capacity constraints to comply with social distancing guidelines.

To comply with Phase 4 protocols and help maximize safety, players will be grouped in “pods” of 15-20 players, similar to the traditional “teams” of past seasons.

These “pods” will be assigned to the same, recurring, 3 weekly sessions (2x after school and Saturdays).  This limits the exposure of an individual player to a set population of common players while supporting potential contact tracing, should it be required.

At registration, you will be prompted for your preferences in terms of date and time for your player.  Please note that we will do our best to match your preferences, but, given the social distancing requirements around field capacity, we cannot guarantee placement to a specific date and time.

Weekday sessions will be Monday through Friday, at 4pm, 5pm and 6pm.

Saturday sessions will be be 9am, 10:15am, and 11:30am; potential afternoon slots may be used if enrollment dictates.

We anticipate using 3-4 fields depending on total enrollment.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Registration will open tonight at 7pm through Sports Connect (formerly Blue Sombrero - the same portal we've used in prior years).

https://www.ayso697.org/

Registration fees will be $115 / player; this includes $20 of annual AYSO membership fees (non-refundable) that will also cover our Spring season / programming.

Playerships are available for financial aid; please complete registration and then head to our Playership page to apply:

An AYSO COVID-19 waiver will be required for all participants.

An opportunity to list your preferred days / times for the weekday and Saturday sessions will be provided; while we cannot guarantee those times, we will work to match preferences to available inventory.

Due to Phase 4 requirements, Registration will close by 8/22 to ensure that rosters are set, published and in place ahead of the 8/24 kickoff.  We are allocating the 600 slots across age groups; as age groups fill up, we will employ a wait list process. Should we be able to reallocate slots between age groups, we'll release players from the wait list.

To further support Phase 4 requirements, we are working with suppliers to provide a complimentary soccer ball and practice pinny for each player to bring to their sessions.  We expect to be able to provide this equipment ahead of the first session (8/24).  More details to follow.

BONUS SESSION – WEEK OF 8/10

AYSO Oak Park is excited to provide a complimentary week of P2 Training-led clinics to celebrate the Return to Soccer!

These 90-minute, daily sessions will be held at Irving and Julian Fields the week of 8/10 - 8/14. Sessions will be co-ed, grouped by traditional AYSO age groups (U8, U10, U12, U14 and U19).

Upon completion of your AYSO registration, including payment of fees for the season, you will be able to register directly for the Bonus Session only, based on your player's age group and preferred time slot, directly on the P2 website.  A link will be circulated for direct registration with P2.

Due to Phase 4 social distancing guidelines and capacity constraints, we are only able to offer the Bonus session to 360 participants.

Please note that only those players who are registered for the Fall “season” may participate in the Bonus session.

Thank you for your continued support of Oak Park AYSO and in your patience as we navigate these unique and challenging times.  We are thrilled to be able to continue our mission of providing meaningful soccer experiences to the community in a safe, thoughtful manner.

Regards,
Drew Dingman
AYSO 697 Regional Commissioner
