Spring Season Delayed

Oak Park AYSO Families and Partners,

The AYSO National Office today issued a recommendation that all regions suspend or postpone all AYSO programs until further notice. I've included their message at the bottom of this email, but wanted to more specifically address the situation here in Oak Park.

The Oak Park AYSO board met this past Thursday night and our plan for Covid-19 was a large part of the discussion. Our original plan for Spring season included releasing rosters prior to Spring break with clinics starting March 30 and our first practices and games were planned for the week of April 6.

Given the nature of this pandemic, we are going to delay our season for at least two weeks with a tentative start date for clinics and practices of April 20 and our first game day Saturday April 25.

This delay will give us time to better understand how this health emergency is going to evolve in our community and to make appropriate plans for the Spring season. We will do whatever is best for the safety and health of our participant families. At the very least that will mean a truncated season and could potentially be a cancelled season.

As the Oak Park AYSO board works through the logistics of determining the outcome of the Spring season, we will communicate additional details as they are determined, including information on timing of a truncated Spring season and/or processing refunds.

We will update you as soon as we have more information from the AYSO National Office and our local governing bodies.

AYSO National Response to Covid-19 Outbreak
We thank you for your patience to this ever-changing situation. In light of new information, AYSO is recommending that all AYSO programs be suspended or postponed immediately until further notice. The National Board of Directors will be holding a meeting on Monday, March 16th and we expect to have further guidance after that. The AYSO Office will be in contact with our national and local Public Health departments to diligently monitor the developing updates. As new information becomes available, we will reevaluate the situation to determine our next course of action.

We understand that this has created anxiety in our communities, but please let your families know that their health and well-being is our top priority and the steps we are taking will help stem the spread of Coronavirus and protect the most vulnerable.

We still recommend that you follow the CDC guidelines, which can be found here:

We know this can be a particularly isolating time, so let’s remember to reach out to one another via your social platforms to remind each other that we’re all in this together.
